[Jefferson Market] The famous public clock affectionately known as "Old Jeff." August 31, the day the clock was started after the over work of restoration and electrification for which the Committee for the Clock in the Courthouse contracted to pay $3400.  On balcony are Committee members and news writers, also: James vanDerpool, Director of New York City Commission Landmarks Preservation; Alan Burnham, American Architectural Archives; Margot Gayle, Chairman of the Clock Committee; Giorgio Cavaglieri, architect converting the building to a public library and, others.
