Document related to John Bigelow (1817-1911) - American statesman, diplomat, journalist, and author born in New York and attended Union College. Bigelow worked as a reporter and editor for several newspapers, including the New York Evening Post and the New York Tribune. He was also involved in politics, serving as Secretary of State of New York from 1855-1857 and as United States Consul in Paris during the Civil War.
