Mary Shelley was an English novelist, short story writer, and dramatist, best known for her Gothic novel "Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus" (1818). She was the wife of the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley and the daughter of the feminist philosopher Mary Wollstonecraft. She also wrote several other novels, including "Valperga" (1823) and "The Last Man" (1826).
