28 CE: Pilate has set up effigies of the emperor Tiberius throughout Jerusalem. The Jews implore him to remove the statues and offer their necks to the sword, saying that they would rather die than transgress their ancient law. 28 CE: The Jews are infuriated by Pilate's plan to use the assets of the Temple treasury for the construction of a fifty-mile aqueduct.
